Responsible gaming
Our games are entertainment. They are not a way to make money. They are built to be fun for people who can afford to lose what they put in. If that is not you right now, please do not play, and please read the help section below.
18+ only
Our games are for adults. You must be 18 or over, or older where the local legal age is higher. Gambling by minors is illegal everywhere we operate and we take it seriously.
What "high volatility" actually means
We build high volatility slots and we would rather be straight with you about what that means than let the marketing do the talking.
- Most sessions lose. That is true of all slots, and it is more sharply true of high volatility slots.
- Long runs with no meaningful win are normal and expected. The maths is designed that way. Nothing is broken and nothing is "due".
- The maximum win is astronomically rare. On El Gato, the 10,000x cap is designed to occur roughly once in ten million spins. Headline numbers exist because they are exciting, not because they are achievable in an evening.
- RTP is a theoretical long-run average over millions of spins. A 96% RTP does not mean you will get 96% of your money back. Your session is not the long run.
- Every spin is independent. A previous result never changes the next one. There is no hot streak, no cold streak and no strategy that changes the odds.
Keeping it fun
- Decide what you are willing to lose before you start, and treat it as the price of the entertainment.
- Never gamble with money meant for rent, food, bills or debt.
- Never gamble to win back what you lost. Chasing losses is the single most reliable way to turn a bad night into a serious problem.
- Set a time limit as well as a money limit.
- Do not play when you are stressed, upset, drunk or high.
- Take regular breaks, and stop when it stops being fun.
Warning signs
It may be time to step back if you find yourself:
- spending more money or more time than you meant to, repeatedly
- gambling to escape stress, boredom, anxiety or low mood
- chasing losses, or betting bigger to get back to even
- borrowing money, selling things, or using money set aside for something else
- lying to family or friends about how much you play
- feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut down
- neglecting work, study, sleep or people you care about
If several of those sound familiar, please talk to one of the organisations below. They are free, confidential, and they will not judge you.
Where to get help
These are independent organisations. We are not affiliated with them and we do not receive anything for listing them.
Tools your operator gives you
Because we supply games rather than run platforms, the practical controls live with the operator you play on. Licensed operators are generally required to offer:
- Deposit limits — daily, weekly or monthly caps you set yourself
- Loss and wager limits
- Session time limits and reality checks that interrupt you with how long you have been playing
- Time out — a short cooling off period, typically 24 hours to 6 weeks
- Self-exclusion — locking yourself out for months or years, which cannot be undone on a whim
Look for these in your account settings. Setting a limit while you are calm is far easier than stopping while you are not.
Blocking software
If you want gambling sites off your devices entirely, these block them at the source: Gamban, BetBlocker (free, registered charity), and GamBlock.
In the UK, GAMSTOP lets you self-exclude from every licensed UK online operator at once, for free.
Protecting children
If you share a device with children, use parental controls and keep account credentials and payment methods to yourself. Blocking software above will also stop gambling sites loading on a shared computer.
How we build
We think a studio that makes high volatility games has an obligation to describe them honestly. We publish real RTP figures and real maximum win odds, we do not advertise our games as a way to make money, we do not use language suggesting a win is due or deserved, and we do not target anyone under 18 or anyone who has self-excluded.
If you think we have fallen short of that anywhere in our games or our marketing, tell us at hello@finallife.games.
